Maintenance & repairs
Damp & mould remedial
Damp and mould are now a compliance issue as much as a maintenance one. We identify what is actually causing it, put it right, and document the work.

Most damp we are called to has been treated at least once already, usually with mould wash and fresh paint. It comes back within a season because nobody established where the water was coming from.
Three different problems, three different fixes
Penetrating damp comes in from outside — a failed gutter, cracked render, defective pointing, a slipped tile. Rising damp comes up from the ground where a damp-proof course is missing, failed or bridged. Condensation forms inside when warm moist air meets a cold surface and cannot escape. They look similar on a wall and they need completely different work.
Why it matters more than it used to
Damp and mould in rented housing is now treated as a serious hazard rather than a cosmetic complaint, and landlords are expected to investigate and act rather than attribute it to tenant lifestyle. Getting it inspected and the cause dealt with promptly is what matters.
The remedial work itself
- External repairs — roofing, guttering, downpipes, render, pointing and drainage
- Damp-proof course installation or repair, and removal of external bridging
- Ventilation improvements, extraction and positive input ventilation where condensation is the cause
- Mould removal and treatment of affected surfaces
- Replastering with the correct system, then redecoration
How it works
Inspection and diagnosis
We take moisture readings and look for the source — a failed gutter, bridged damp course, blown render, or a ventilation problem.
Quote and work specification
Following the inspection you get a quote with a recommended specification — what is causing it, and the work needed to get rid of the mould and remediate the affected areas.
Remedial work
We fix the cause first, then make good the damage — in that order, because the reverse never lasts.
Frequently asked questions
Is it damp or is it condensation?
Often condensation, but not always, and the difference decides the fix. We take moisture readings and inspect the outside of the building before saying either way.
Can you just treat the mould?
We can, but if the cause is still there it will return within months. We will always tell you what is causing it, and you can decide how far you want to go.
What do I get after the inspection?
A quote with a recommended specification of works — what is causing the damp, and what needs doing to get rid of the mould and remediate the affected areas. That gives you and any tenant a clear picture of the plan.
